What inspired you to start this business?
With a background in art and a deep love for painting, I’ve always been drawn to creating beauty with my hands. Baking started as a joyful escape—a way to combine creativity with deliciousness. But soon, I discovered that cake design allowed me to blend my artistic skills with the joy of celebration. Each cake became a canvas, and every order a chance to turn someone’s story into something sweet and memorable. Zoie The Cake was born from that passion: the love of creating beautiful, handcrafted cakes that taste as good as they look, and that make people smile.

What challenges did you face starting a business abroad?
Starting my cake business in a new country wasn’t easy. From understanding local rules to building trust in a place where no one knew me, every step was a learning curve. As a non-Swedish baker, one of my biggest challenges was creating cakes that match the taste preferences of Swedish clients and other cultures. But my love for creativity helped me adapt, connect, and grow—with every cake telling its own sweet story.

What advice would you give to other wanting to start a business?
Believe in yourself wholeheartedly and trust your abilities. Starting is the hardest part, but once you take that step, the challenges will become easier to overcome. Keep pushing forward, stay committed, and remember that every obstacle is an opportunity to grow and learn. Your passion and perseverance will guide you through the toughest moments.
